5 Ways to Integrate Ayurveda Into Your 2019






When people hear about Ayurveda for the first time, they are often mystified and intimidated, but there is no reason to be! Ayurveda is all about listening to your body and to nature around you, so once you get to know it, it becomes simple and intuitive. To get you started, here are some easy ways you can inject a bit of this ancient holistic health system into your life this year.

1. Tongue tingling

This super easy everyday practice is the first thing I do every morning and is a real game-changer. Use a U-shaped copper Tongue Tingler to clean the gunk that accumulates on your tongue overnight, and it helps with bad breath, as well as and making the taste of your food more satisfying.

2. Golden Milk

This beautiful warming elixir is an Ayurvedic classic, made by simmering milk (dairy or nondairy) with balancing spices and sweetening it with a touch of jaggery. It is just as perfect to ease you into the day (a great alternative to coffee in the morning) as it is to help you sleep (a great alternative to a glass of wine) or as a comforting mid-afternoon pick-me-up (a great alternative to hot chocolate!).
3. Hot water

Ayurveda teaches us that it is better for us to drink hot water, rather than cold, because cold water shocks our digestion, whereas hot nurtures it. This makes sense intuitively if you think about it, and is a super easy way to live a bit more Ayurvedically. Just heat up a kettle and fill up your thermos!
